![]() The walker Senjawalks.no, the english version of senjavandrer.no, is dedicated to my passion for Senja, our wonderful island for walking. I want to inspire you to explore Senja on foot, while enjoying the wide range of walking possibilities in a varied landscape and outstanding natural scenery. On the web site, you will find descriptions of hiking trails which I have personally carried out over the last 15 years. Several of the routes are as a result of The Senja Walking Map, which was provided in 1997 by the four local municipalities; Berg, Lenvik, Torsken and Tranøy. This map, which is on a scale of 1:50 000, covers the island as a whole and so is a useful point of departure for selecting an exciting route. The Senja Walking Association is responsible for a marked route of about 80 kilometres, which goes all the way from north to south. Located in the middle of the island is Senjabu, an easily accessed, self-service cabin which is owned by the Senja Walking Association. Some walks are marked or have paths which are easy to find. but most of the described routes are not marked as such. However, even if the landscape is fairly varied since you may be walking from sea level and up to a height of approximately 900 meters, it is very easy to navigate. The described walks cover almost all of Senja and vary from the very easy to the more difficult. I feel confident that you will find a route which is both challenging and enjoyable for your level of fitness and available time. I look forward to your comments and I am happy to answer any questions. I wish you a pleasant walk..
